Week One Complete

So training didn't go so hot last week due to my dumb foot being all painful - I've sprained both of my ankles twice each, so it is unfortunately very easy for me to sustain foot injuries. Anyways, today I felt better so I spent a 1/2 hour on the recumbent bike and then ran a half mile per the training schedule. Tomorrow will be a rest day, also per the training schedule. I've gotten Chris to jump on the diet/exercise train, so that's good for both of us!!
My goal of not eating after 6:30 went ok, and my goal for Week Two is to continue to not eat after 6:30pm and also add the goal of sticking to my daily calorie intake of 1500. On a side note, I've been drinking a ton of water which is really good and I've also been staying far, far away [donkey] from bread, pasta and rice. That's also very good, at least for the time being.
Good luck to me for Week Two.

First Day of Training

First day of training successfully accomplished. Today was just to run a half mile, which I was convinced wasn't possible, but I guess all that "mind over matter" stuff really is true :-) A half mile wasn't a big deal a while ago, but I took such a long break from the gym and have been fighting a ridiculous chest cold, so I was a little worried about tonight! Anyways, I'm super glad to have the first day of training behind me, and I did pretty well with my food choices today, too. Apparently tomorrow is (run 1 minute hard/run 4 minutes easy)x 4. What?! Who made up this schedule anyways? (haha, j/k Maria - you're gonna kick my butt into shape whether I enjoy it or not!).

Improvements in 2007

Improvements in 2007:
*Quit smoking - my last light-up was New Year's Eve 2006 so it's been exactly a year since I quit and I haven't relapsed
*Landed an amazing job that's only .9 miles from my house - close enough to walk during the warmer months which is great exercise!
*Adopted my puppy George (White Shep/Husky) who is the best George ever :-)
*Lost 12 lbs since New Years Eve 2006 - would like to have lost more, but I'll take any loss over a single pound gained! Goal for 2008 is to to get to my healthy weight.

Exscary

"Exscary"is a Stephanie-ism that means exciting and scary at the very same time. That is how I would define the goal my friend Maria and I have set out sights on for May 10, 2008 - to run the 31st 5/3rd Riverbank Run. Since I've never run more than a few miles at a time before, much less a marathon, we're signing up for the 10k which should be a really good challenge! I'm super excited, moreso than scared, because it's about time I get healthy and hopefully I'll be setting myself to continue a lifelong habit of running. Yay for Maria and I!!
